🤍 Instagram- more on acne scar revision 🤍 For the latest in acne scar revision procedures- in depth explanations Instagram: acne scar revision videos and photos daily 🤍 TCA peels for acne scarring TCA chemical peels can be an excellent method to treat very deep acne scars including ice-pick, and open deep skin pores. Deep acne scars, called ice-pick scarring do not respond to Fraxel/ Fractionated laser treatments, but can be effectively treated with chemical peels. TCA cross stands for ‘Trichloroacetic Acid Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars’. Chemical peels work by stimulating collagen, lifting deep and indented acne scars. How do I perform TCA for acne scars? First of alI, I examine your scar types, taking notes and photographing acne scars under angled lighting. Depending on your skin type and depth of your acne scar, I select a concentration of TCA between 70- 100%. Most doctors use a toothpick technique to deliver the TCA chemical peel to the acne scar, however I invented my syringe delivery system- this is much more accurate, and much faster than older techniques. I often combine several types of treatments for acne scarring in the one sitting. Shallow scars and rolling scars are best treated with Fractionated lasers/ Fraxel, deeper scars such as ‘ice-pick’ acne scars are best treated with TCA cross or punch excision. I also perform subcision to lift up tethered scars. Most patients will have different scar types, hence the importance to use the best method for acne scar removal. How long does it take to recover from TCA CROSS chemical peels? Recovery from TCA chemical peels are quick, and painless. This is because only the acne scar is treated, and not the surrounding skin. Scared areas are white for several hours, before turning red for several days. Each treated area (1-2mm) will remain red for one week before peeling. Full recovery is expected in 5-6 days, however redness may take a week or two to fully recover. Sun protection is essential during this period. Can darker skin types be treated with the TCA cross technique? Yes, even deep ice pick acne scars caused from zits, acne, and cysts can be treated with TCA chemical peels in darker skin types, however darker pigmentation is always seen after the peel, and can persist for a few months. The use of Picosure laser and sunscreen and a bleaching cream can reduce this incidence. TCA CROSS chemical peel is an effective and safe method that is ideally suited for deep acne scars. Even with the event of lasers such as Fraxel and ProFractional lasers, TCA still plays an important role for the revision of ‘ice pick scarring.’ Acne patients often have several types of scars including rolling scars, ice-pick scarring, box scars, and bound scars. Always remember it is the method, not the machine that gives acne scar patients the very best results. Chemical peels, along with microneedling, skin needling, radiofrequency, fractional co2, Profractional, subcision, and dermal fillers give my patients the very best results for their acne scars. My patient has some deep ice pick scars that have bothered her for a long time now and she decided it was time to change that. Acne which is one of the most common problem faced by teenagers and even by people who are in their 30s or 40s or early 20s can be treated very successfully by natural home remedies. If you know the cause behind your persistent acne and if you are undergoing treatment for it, natural methods can definitely help you to remove the scars of the older acne. Why do scars fade away from skin. Some people you might have seen that they fade away really fast and for some people it takes really a long time for acne scars to fade away. There can be two reasons for it. One, you acne are cystic acne which are really deep into your skin and create scar tissues in the deeper layers of your skin or two, your diet is very unhealthy or the person is not including healthy foods which help to have better turnover of skin cells and remove the acne scars faster. The commonest reason that I have seen in practice why acne don’t fade away is that a person does not include enough drinks, fresh vegetables and fruits in their diet and the water intake is very low. So the first rule for removing your acne scars by natural remedies at home is to improve your diet. Start including fresh greens in your diet. Suppose you are not able to eat fresh greens at home or you do not spend that much time in the kitchen to be able to eat vegetables along with your food try and include juiced vegetables in your diet. The first thing in the morning you can include carrots, beetroot, fresh coriander, bottle guard juiced into one glass along with a little squeeze of lemon and may be with a little pinch of Himalayan pink salt which is extremely effective which has 85 minerals, it is very good and healthy for the skin. Have a glass of juiced vegetables first thing in the morning. Then large dose of vitamin A and several good vitamins that is going in your body and help the skin have better health, it will turnover the skin cells faster and give a glow from within and fade away the scars naturally. Lemon juice frequently through the day also helps in reducing scarring of the skin and even if you keep getting acne the scars will disappear very fast. If your sun care routine is not proper that also can get very deep and dark marks on your face. So make sure when you head out in the sun, if you have an acne prone skin use a water based good quality organic sunscreen 20 minutes before exposure to the sun and that also will help you keep the scars very light. The third thing is applying tomato juice or papaya juice or juiced lemon on the skin. All these things have vitamin C and natural acids which help in fading away the scars. But do remember that single application may not suffice and you may have to do this again and again. They have several enzymes also which make the skin tighter and younger looking. The next thing you can do is applying curd to face. Curd has lactic acid and it helps to reduce tan and stubborn scars on face. So applying every night or every alternate day helps in reducing scarring of skin when you have an acne prone skin. Reducing acne scars, better than that is reducing the occurrence of acne on the first place. Have a good diet. Drink plenty of water. Use plenty of fresh fruits in your diet. Try to eat fruits in between two meals at least twice daily. This itself helps to have better purification of skin, have healthy levels of vitamins in the blood and reduces acne. Have good amounts of vegetables and greens in your diet. Drink plenty of water. Drink a glass of lemon juice every other day or every single day. Take a glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon everyday first thing in the morning and you can reduce acne permanently from your skin.

Hello, I’m Mahsa Karavan. I’m a board-certified dermatologist and I practice at U.S. Dermatology Partners in Plano. Today, I’ll be talking about acne scars and microneedling as a method of treatment for acne scars. Microneedling is a method of inducing collagen in the skin and restructuring old scars. It is using very small tiny needles to penetrate the skin bypassing any trauma to the top layer of the skin and only creating micro injury where we want it in the dermis, which is the deep part of the skin, which naturally brings in healing to blood and growth factors that can help us build new collagen and plump up scars, plump up wrinkles and has a great benefit for pigmentation as well as redness within the acne scars and helps shrink the pores and improve the appearance of skin overall. Platelet-rich plasma or PRP often we refer to is your own blood spun down to get all the growth factors amplified so PRP has about three to five times the concentrations of platelets which are these wonderful cells that bring with them plenty of growth factors and when they're concentrated that fluid from your own blood now has over 30 growth factors highly concentrated and it's supercharged to improve pigmentation, to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as to build new collagen and elastin tissue under scars to plump them up and to make you look more youthful and glowy. One wonderful method of treating acne scars is actually physically cutting the fibrous bands that hold down the indented or atrophic scars and that is called subcision, it is used after numbing the skin of course. It is using a needle that has a tiny blade at the end and we go underneath the acne scars and we cut the fibrous bands and that releases the acne scars up to the surface allows for the healing blood and the growth factors to occupy the space underneath the scar and over a month up to six months, you will see the building of new collagen and improvement in the appearance of scars. This procedure can be repeated as many times as you desire depending on how severe your acne scars are. It is best combined with microneedling, or microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, to further improve your results. Subcision treatment is a procedure that treats depressed acne scars using small needles to correct the depressed volume in the skin. Depressed acne scars are caused by bands that connect the top layer of skin to layers beneath it and pull the skin downward, creating uneven skin texture. Subcision addresses this by cutting that band in order to allow the skin to return to its natural texture. I use a combination of lasers to treat acne scars. The most important point to take back from this video is that it is the METHOD of acne scar revision that gives the greatest benefit to the patient. The very first step is to identify acne scar types, and ideally this is done under angled lighting and mapping. Once the scars are mapped and the types of scars identified, I then use targeted treatments to address these scars. Most patients will have a mixture of acne scar types, including atrophic scars, tethered scars, box car scars, ice pick acne scars, rolling acne scars, and hypertrophic scars. Some patients will have early acne scars, and others will have longstanding acne scars. Some will have red scars, others dark scars, and others skin coloured ones. The best METHOD is to match the procedure, with the scar type, skin type and downtime for the patient. For someone to be good, and I mean really good at acne scar revision, they must have not only an array of machines and lasers, but be skilled in the art of surgery, subcission, and most of all dermal filling. TCA CROSS is another procedure I perform 3-4 times a day on deep ice pick scars, or linear box car scars. This video only shows one form of scar revision- that is fully ablative laser resurfacing using the erbium Scition laser. Other devices I use (and videos will come shortly), include- the Profractional erbium by Scition, the Fraxel fractional laser at 1550, called Fraxel RESTORE, the big guns of Fraxel which is called the Fraxel CO2 or RE:Pair. I also use fully ablative lasers such as the CO2 CORE by Synderon Candella, as well as the Fractional CO2 laser. eMartrix is good for early acne scars, however there are better devices for older more severe scars. I often combine eMatrix in my Acne Free RF program. ePrime is a form of skin needling- but delivers only a small amount of needles with limited insulation via radiofrequency. I have this device, but the results are not so good for even atrophic and tethered scars. I find that INFINI microneedling radiofrequency is the Gold Standard for delivering non-laser based acne scar revision – in the context of atrophic, tethered, rolling and mixed scars, as well as open skin pores. In 2015, I used the Picosure Focus array lens – a fractional picosecond Q switch laser to treat acne scarring that is early, and pigmented. (Brown or dark acne scars). This laser is excellent in this context (video to come shortly). I also use the nano second 1064 NdYag laser for early remodelling of acne scars- once again in the context of dark scars. Red acne scars respond nicely to vascular lasers such as the V BEAM laser. Over a course of 3-5 sessions, collagen can be stimulated as well as redness reduced.
